*** Due to some confusion with the library's list, The Yellow Birds was switched with Song of Achilles. I am trying to verify that Song of Achilles will be available from the library in November. Please bear with me while I sort this out. I am sorry for all inconveniences caused by this mix-up.

** These books were just recently released and, while they have been added to the list, can not be guaranteed to be available through the library. Much depends on when they are released in paperback.

Note on the September selection: The library is unable to obtain enough copies of this Song of Achilles in September. Members are on their own as far as getting a copy for September.

There are no links to reader's guides, discussion questions, or summaries yet. I will add them as time permits. I will also update the archive list when I can. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Enjoy the read!

New List for 2013-14!

Hi Everyone!

We got our future list back from Cook Library. Some of the books we wanted were too new to be requested, but here are the books that made it:

July 10, 2013: The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak  (Kathy)  (Reading Group Guides)
August 14, 2013: Thunderstruck by Erik Larson— (Ann) (Lit Lovers)
September 11, 201:3 A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness  (Carey) (Candlewick Press Reading Guide)
October 9, 2013: What is the What? by Dave Eggers  (Ann) (Lit Lovers)
November 13, 2013: The Art of Hearing Heartbeats by Jan-Phillip Sendker  (Ann) (Reading Group Guides)
December 11, 2013: No book - social meeting!

March 12, 2014: Cocktail Hour Under the Tree of Forgetfulness by Alexandra Fuller  (Janis?) (Lit Lovers)

Note that once again, there is no book for December since it is such a busy month. The links from the book titles lead to reading guides, the second set of parentheses tells the source of the guide, and the first set of parentheses is the person who will lead the discussion for that month.

See you at the next meeting on May 8th!

New Book List for 2012-2013

A special thanks goes out to Kathy A. for braving the library bureaucracy and coming up with the following list of books for the coming year. I will post links to Reader's Guides as I come across them.

The names in parentheses indicate the discussion leader for the meeting. Feel free to volunteer to lead the discussion for those books not yet assigned or to trade with each other if you prefer.

Please note: December is intentionally left blank as it is such a busy month; and January has 2 books. In January, you may read either or both books. We will have a discussion of both books with a compare/contrast component for those who have read both.

June 13 - The Story of Beautiful Girl by Rachel Simon (Janis)
July 11 - Time & Again by Jack Finney
August 8 - Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs (Kearstie)
